Little-known but real fire resistance
Contrary to popular belief, wooden windows offer better fire resistance than many other materials. Wood naturally withstands high temperatures: it can endure up to 200 °C before deforming. In contrast, PVC windows begin to soften at 110 °C and release dangerous toxic fumes when melting.
In case of fire, wood chars slowly on the surface, forming a protective insulating layer that preserves the structural integrity of the joinery. Metal windows conduct heat strongly and become hot very quickly, while plastic components degrade rapidly.
